Mom said

that I did not post enough pics just now. As we all know "if momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy." So Momma- these are for you! Sitting room.
Bedroom.
Bathroom/Closet

Warm in the Winter

and cool in the summer. Horray for new foam insulation. The upstairs looks like an upstairs! It's amazing the coziness of the 2nd floor now with all new windows and insulation. Can't wait to enjoy coffee in my new sitting area in my bathrobe. Insulation pictures and the last window that spans the stairway.
And we've now picked out all of our tile. Not quite sure of the exact lay out yet, but the gray plank will be the floors, white marble the shower walls and the mosiac (top of picture) tile will be the accent at most likely the top, middle and possibly bottom of the shower.

Windows and Walls

A whole lot happened while I was in NOLA this week. Mainly all the framing has been completed and 4 of our 5 new windows have been installed. It is really coming together. Under the two small windows will be above the bathroom vanity that you can see at www.restorationhardware.com under "Bath" and it's called the 1930s Stainless Steel collection. Between the windows will be our mirror. Pictures from the outside and inside.
Now for the bedrooms in and out pictures. The current "plan" is to set our sleigh bed in front of the bank of windows. My trashcan find of a light fixture will be hanging right above the bed, with the other lights being inset can lights.
And finally the closet. This has been a bit of a fight. We were hoping for a larger space, but I'm crossing my fingers for some innovative storage ideas and built ins. Added to that, my 31st year goal is to buy NO clothes, shoes or accessories soooooo everything that goes into this closet will look good on me and be something that I love to wear.
The 5th window will be installed after all of the sheetrock is delivered. It's the only way to get all of it in! Here is a picture of the 1/2 wall that is now surrounding the staircase. This window is centered on the peak and will be a large rectangle.

Its football Saturday...

and I'm at home since Bryan took a friend to the game :) It's so nice to come home and see progress each day. Here are a few things that were completed Friday: 1. framing 2. HVAC removal of a vent and new air conditioner upstairs 3. dumpster removal Exciting times. Go Pokes. Pistols firing.
Some windows should be installed early next week. Won't be posting too much though 'cause I'll be on a business trip to New Orleans and Bryan said he's not funny enough to post. I agreed. Back to making my apple butter on this football Saturday.

It's all about the Bathroom, baby!

Or about the benjamins, but I digress. Framing is done in the bathroom, rough-ins of plumbing and electrical done, and even the shower pan is in! Rough in of the shower and the water closet- Bryan's getting his urinal so all is well with the world.
Now here's what's happened in the bedroom- ceiling work and the window removed. Yippee.

Horray Walls!

Got off work a little early today to come home and meet with our electrician. He'll be roughing in the electrical this week. And horray for a few walls. The watercloset, bedroom, and other knee walls should be in by tomorrow. And the big news---we can no longer touch out ceiling! Horray!

YeHaw Pistols Firing

I cannot communicate effectively the total joy I had today when I came home. The carpet was up and I found myself in a cowboy wonderland. I knew this house was created just for me. Really? A pistol, brand, boot and lucky horse shoe? Yes really. Now if only I can get Tim to save one or two of them when he's ripping up the floor :)
Okay....and today the bedroom got some love. We're planning to have this space be Moody Blue (Sherwin Williams) with just the bed. This is a picture looking into the sitting area (the doorway will now be about double the size.) And the second is a picture looking from the stairway to the bathroom. Someday soon there will be a beautiful vanity from Restoration Hardware and a pretty mirror from Grandma Teda and two long windows at that end!

Two days, No Walls

It's funny to think that it takes one week to rip everything out and two months to build it all back. But I'll be honest- it looks a lot better than I thought it would. The dumpster outside our garage is already full. It's hard to have a perspective with the pictures below, but I've tried to add captions to explain!
The new closet and part of the bathroom space on the east side of the house, facing 30th.
The view towards the stairs North. This will be our "sitting room."
The view South without a wall, a new wall will go up to enclose our bathroom and closet area!
And last but not least, we celebrated Ellie Mae's 11 birthday this Labor Day!
